CHAPTER 21
Creator of Eco-Spiritual Innovation : Eco-Temple Village — Billamangal Dhaam

He dreamed a sanctuary where the sacred and the sustainable walk hand in hand.

From His vision rose the Eco-Temple Village — a living Mandala of Earth, Spirit and Community.

Through Billamangal Dhaam, Babajee proved that devotion can heal the soil and reverence can restore the world.

Introducing Inner Climate Change and Conscious Living

At Global Peace Forums, Babajee says and strongly reminds:

“The balance of the Inner Spiritual Eco-system reflects upon the Environmental Eco-system of Human Life. We are actively busy and talk about the Climate Change outside, forgetting and neglecting the Climate Change within ourselves.”

He teaches that our materialistic way of living, missing inner identity, the meaning of life etc. changes the Inner Eco-System and creates Inner Imbalance. Often loneliness, frustrations, depression, aggression bring us in the complexity of Separation, Division, Mega-Consumerism etc. which influences the external crisis in the Climate outside.

If we can discover our Divine Potential then we can find the meaning of life, happiness, peace and balance within ourselves and living a sustainable life.

His message links spiritual practice with sustainable living, guiding humanity toward a peaceful inner ecology and responsible outer existence.

Advocacy and Go Green Campaign of Spiritual India

Sohamm Babajee was the first Spiritual Leader in India who raised the urgent call about Climate Change to the public eye in the Press Conference at the Kolkata Press Club in 2010.

His resonant voice gave rise to the “Go Green Campaign,” a worldwide movement to safeguard the Earth.

Later on, being inspired by Babajee's vision, several other Spiritual Leaders of India started to talk about Climate Change and related issues.

Through His actions and advocacy, Babajee embodies the sacred duty to honour and protect our shared home - the Earth.

At the Haridwar Kumbh Mela, Babajee was honoured with the titles “Eco Monk” and “Green Monk,” planting thousands of trees along the sacred banks of the Ganges.

His Go Green Campaign inspired the government of Uttarakhand to declare the disposal of plastic waste at Har Ki Pauri Ghat a punishable offence, leading to a landmark ban on plastics during the 2010 Kumbh Mela.

A Sacred Living Model of Ecology and Spirituality

One of the most pioneering contributions of Babajee is the creation of the Sohamm Babajee Missions Eco-Temple Village Billamangal Dhaam in West Bengal — a unique Sanctuary of Spiritualism and ecological sustainability, stands as a living testament to His vision.

This Eco-village has inspired grassroots leaders, global environmental thinkers and spiritual institutions to rethink how communities can thrive in balance with Nature.

The project is inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Himalayan Mysticism, acceptance and living in harmony.

It demonstrates the UN SDGs in action, making it a living case study for governments and civil society alike.

This pioneering project, serves not only as a model for India but as a beacon of hope and innovation for the entire world.

Worshipping the Sacred Tree at the Heart of the Eco-Temple Village

At the heart of this village is not only a temple of stone but a temple of nature : a majestic, more than 2,100 years old Banyan Tree, standing as a silent Witness of each and every turmoil and happiness of Life.

The people in this Eco-village feel the presence of this Tree as the Eternal Guardian of Wisdom, Resilience and rooted Divinity.

Contributions of the Eco-Temple Village to the local communities:

— Shelter and free health care to the poor and elderly.

— Education and empowerment for women and children.

— Food and clothes distributions for surrounding communities.

— Cultural exchange, spiritual gatherings and global peace events.

— Empowering Sustainability

The Eco-Temple Village reflects Babajee’s vision of sacred, sustainable living — where people coexist with nature in harmony, reverence and shared purpose.

Using traditional, eco-friendly natural materials, the Village promotes organic farming, tree planting, water conservation, empowering Vedic education, Baul tradition and serves as a vibrant traditional Indian cultural hub.

The village utilises traditional materials and practices to build durable structures, fostering an environment where beauty and respect for nature coexist.

Planting the Tree of Hope : A Symbolic Global Act

During the UN Climate Change Conference in Durban, South Africa in 2011; Babajee planted the “Tree of Hope” (an indigenous African species) on the premises of the Durban ICC, symbolising the spiritual commitment to a greener planet; using the ceremonial silver shovel once held by Nelson Mandela.

His Missions continue to organise coastal clean-ups, reforestation activities and ecological awareness campaign drives across India and abroad.

Organising Tree Planting

Babajee often says: "When you cut a tree, you take a Star away".

Regular planting trees in the Eco-Temple Village, in the mountains and in the rural villages.

Inspiring and encouraging people to plant trees at their own land, regularly.

Planted Rhododendron trees at the village Chopta in the Himalayas.

International Recognition and Environmental Leadership

UNFCCC honoured Babajee with Observer Status in 2011.

Initiation of "Stop Global Warming" campaigns since 2010.

Organises bio-farming, tree planting and clean-up drives across India.

Participates in cleaning Himalayan forests and riverbanks.
